Commercial Insurance Coverage

Weimer and Weeding attorneys are experienced and knowledgeable across the full spectrum of addressing complex commercial insurance coverage disputes and in litigating those disputes. WW represents insurers, MGAs, brokers, agents and other insurance-related organizations on a myriad of third-party and first-party coverage issues.

WW’s attorneys have provided coverage representation to small and large commercial insurers including United States Liability Insurance Company, Mount Vernon Insurance Company, Integrity Mutual Insurance Company, Grange Insurance Company, Medmarc Insurance Company, and Utica Mutual Insurance Company.

Our attorneys have significant experience resolving Employment Practices Liability, Directors and Officers Liability, Errors and Omissions, Commercial Property, and Commercial General Liability coverage disputes.

Wherever possible and beneficial to our clients, we pursue early settlement. However, when a coverage case will not settle in our client’s interest, we provide our clients with aggressive but cost-effective and efficient representation through trial and appeal, when necessary.

WW’s attorneys are recognized authorities in commercial insurance coverage by their peers. They have written several authoritative books and treatises for attorneys and insurers, including the West Group’s Minnesota Insurance Law and Practice, Second Edition (West, 2010). This publication is used by insurers, judges and attorneys throughout the state. This publication is viewed as one of the leading definitive authority sources addressing legal insurance issues involving such areas as CGL, EPL, D&O, E&O, commercial property, workers compensation, and umbrella policies.

In addition, WW has written for Aspen Publishing the national publication CGL Policy Handbook, Second Edition (Aspen, 2012). This publication addresses Commercial General Liability (CGL) policy issues under Coverages A, B and C, including premises liability, environmental exposures, employment claims, defamation, products liability and intellectual property claims. WW has also penned the authoritative national treatise The Law of Commercial Insurance Agents and Brokers (West, 2007). This volume examines in great detail and depth the legal and coverage issues pertaining to agents and brokers.
